3 valid reasons why post utme is harder than Jamb

Today I’ve decided to put a question before us; which is harder between jamb utme and post utme?

I’ll argue for post utme i.e Post utme is harder than jamb and I’ll love to hear you air your view using the comment section.

Believe me, you are going to find it interesting.

Before going ahead to give you the reasons why I feel post utme exams are harder than jamb exams, let me explain the concept of jamb and post utme briefly.

What is jamb

Jamb which is a short form of jamb utme means Joint admission and matriculation board and utme means unified tertiary matriculation examination. Correct me if I got that wrong.

Not to take much of our time, it’s aimed at organizing examinations for students aspiring for admission into various tertiary institutions.

Also, it is also their responsibility to grant admission into those institutions.

However, changes occurred and universities decided to test students themselves by conducting their various exams.

This gave birth to post utme

What is post utme

As the name implies. Post utme is simply an exam after your jamb utme exam.

The sole aim is to conduct an examination to test students in case their jamb score was a mistake.

Nonetheless, this does not make it applicable to everyone. You are supposed to beat a particular cut off mark to be able sit for any school’s post utme examination.

Reasons why Post ume is harder to pass than jamb

Before I go ahead listing them. I want to recall what I said earlier. These are my views.

I’m a graduate from UNIBEN, and my reasons are based on UNIBEN.

Now let’s go.

1. Jamb is more structured

Over the years jamb has had a standard on how they set their examination. These have brought about brochure, required materials to read, syllabus etc.

So there are a lot of dos and donts.

If you abide by their rules and finish more than 80% of the syllabus, you are good to go.

However, for post utme the difference is the case. There is no syllabus.

You guess the areas you are to read by the little past questions that you come across with.

For example, Students going for medicine can come across maths questions in their post utme this year but it will be omitted the following year.

This poor structure of post utme over jamb makes jamb look easier to me.

2. Past questions accessibility

Past questions have not been an issue in jamb for so many years not until recently when CBT took over.

You can easily come across jamb past questions nationwide either by buying it in stores or downloading from the internet. This can help guide you to likely questions and answers.

However, for post utme; though you can come across past questions, it is not easily accessible like its jamb counterparts.

A student from Benue state preparing to school in UNIBEN will find it difficult if not impossible to lay hold to UNIBEN past questions.

This goes a long way in affecting the difficulty of an exam

3. Tutors availability

There are places called lecture houses. Some may call it lecture homes or tutorials as the case may be.

These are places where tutorials are held for students preparing for external exams like waec, neco, gce, jamb etc as the case may be.

Not until recently because of the number of years post utme has been held, tutors find it difficult to prepare students for post utme.

Though things have changed, there is still a limitation.

These limitations are in the form of locations. A tutorial in Edo state will prepare students with UNIBEN post utme as their focal point. Those in Lagos will focus on UNILAG.

For this reason, Jamb seems to be easier to pass that post utme.

However, just to assist those sitting for UNIBEN post item. If you reside in Edo state. The tutorials I’ll personally recommend for you are Gifted hands science tutorial (oracle and cyano arena) and Goshen tutorials.

If u reside in Ugbowo or anywhere close by look for gifted hands around uselu market.

Those close to sapele road, go to gifted hands branch at sapele road.

However, if u reside in ekewan road, I bet you don’t want to miss out from Goshen tutorials at agboma, off ekewan road.
