Fitness plans, dieting or exercises is that one goal that is always on everybody’s new year’s resolution list. It’s something that is central to humans generally, irrespective of age, class, size or social status.
It is not surprising to see people plan every year for it. You know those things you know are good for you but somehow you are not doing them? Exercising is definitely one of them. Almost everybody knows that it is healthy to exercise but only a few end up exercising.
Infact, it is an unspoken stereotype that people who have a regular fitness plan somehow have their lives put together, planned out because exercising isn’t something you do once and for all, you have to consistently do it everyday for it to make a difference.
It doesn’t ever stop because your body always has a reason to need exercise. Even old people are encouraged to exercise. A good number of people usually start the year with gym registrations and dieting routines. But Guess what? It usually doesn’t go beyond a few days, maybe weeks sometimes.
I should state here if you don’t already know that exercises are good for the body. It helps with a number of health benefits especially in keeping the body in good shape and the heart in good condition. With something this beneficial, why is it so difficult to consistently exercise?
Here are some reasons your fitness goals never work out;

5 REASONS YOUR NEW YEAR FITNESS GOALS NEVER WORK OUT
-
You haven’t seen it as a need
A good number of times people want to hit the gym and exercise because it seems like a cool thing to do. A lot of people don’t know about the health benefits involved with exercises.
They just want to be part of the trend. A lot of people post videos of themselves in the gym, running or doing some form of exercising every morning. It seems cool and everybody wants to be a part of it.
Other times, people just see it as something to do without doing it right. Just like it’s healthy to eat and it’s something important to do. But it’s also important to eat the right kind of food because it’s not just about eating, it’s eating to stay healthy.
So, it’s not just about exercising, it is exercising to stay healthy. When you see it as an important need, it is easier to mentally prepare yourself to start and be consistent at it. It’s not just about the gram and glam, it’s about sound mind and healthy living.

Inadequate plans
So, some people just write it down at the beginning of every year “Start exercising” with no plan or consideration on how to implement this goal. That’s why it’s difficult to just get up from bed to start exercising every morning.
Exercise takes a lot of energy and it usually comes with pain at some point. It’s not something to just jump into if the aim is to be consistent.
There are a number of things to put into consideration; Your diet plan, the kind of food you eat and when you eat them. Whatever you’re eating and drinking affects your body weight and mass including how you feel at different points.
Eating heavily very late or very early in the day can affect your productivity and ultimately your ability to exercise. Your schedule and work plans are also important to consider. It helps you know what to prepare for and even when to wake up. Planning properly can help improve your fitness game.
-
Wrong motivation
It is safe to say that 50% of people wanting to exercise are interested because they are pursuing #Bodygoals. The abs, muscles, flat stomach, wider hips, etc.
Of course, this is good and encouraged if it’s something you want. But your sole aim shouldn’t be because you’re comparing yourself with someone else and you want to hit that figure by all means possible.
While exercises help in body shapes and figures, a lot of other factors are to be considered. It is not advisable to get worked up over someone else.
The motivation for a better shape should be what you want because you can be better and for your health benefits. Having the wrong motivation makes it difficult to continue when it becomes tough at some point.

Starting too big
How is someone who hasn’t exercised since birth suddenly wants to do 100 planks and push ups each everyday consistently? There is an expected disastrous end.
It is true that the body needs you to exercise but it’s also important you know that the body needs to gradually warm up and adjust to you exercising.
It is always advisable to start with something you’re comfortable with and gradually increase your pace as you adjust to the routine and regimen.
A number of people do not pull through with their plans because they start off with way more than they can handle and they end up becoming drained. The ideal plan is to start small and grow big.

Not in the right circle
This might seem a little off considering that it’s something that has to work for each person. But having the right circle of people around to encourage you goes a long way.
It’s easier to be consistent when you have friends that share similar interests and are willing to put in the work too. It’s easier than being alone.
If possible, find partners you can work with and have a fixed time and plans on what you want to do. If you are dieting, being among people that always eat fast food and snacks wouldn’t help.
Same way always partying wouldn’t help because you’ll be sleeping when you should be up. The trick is to have people that can help you reach your goal faster around you.
Conclusion
I think it’s important to mention that you don’t have to wait till the beginning of the year to start exercising. You can start at any time and it doesn’t have to be part of your new year goals for it to become a win. Do what you have to do and don’t worry about the formalities.
