I know for most people, this question is more like stating the obvious and as such, it’s really not necessary. While others still want to know if it always has to be all hard work for a successful life, others feel otherwise.
But then before we start deliberating on whether to always put in hard work in order to have a successful life, let’s first get to know what hard work is really all about and why it seems to be the number one key to becoming successful in life.
Many people define hard work in many different ways. And most of these definitions tend to be intertwined and intercorrelated with one another. However, a few others still tend to have a little difference in what hard work is, all the same, the original context meaning of the word is still not omitted.
Basically, hard work means putting effort into something in order to achieve a set goal. There’s always this extra factor of effort when it comes to working hard. That’s why it’s also called, “grinding“, because literally, you’re grinding when you’re working hard.
Also, hard work can also be seen as being overly committed to what you do, because you’ve set a goal for yourself to attain at a slated time. So being committed and being present at all times to see that the daily tasks of your goals are achieved is hard work. You cherish what you do, and so you’re willing to do whatever it takes to get better and better at it.
You might as well have your own definition of hard work, as long as it’s in line with a set goal to be achieved. Also, you shouldn’t be working hard aimlessly and haphazardly, that’s more or less foolish work because you have no plan.
WHAT HARD WORK MEANS IN ESSENCE
In essence, this means that working hard without having a plan is a total waste of time, energy and resources. Why would a sane human just want to work hard without having a laid-out plan and strategy for what to work hard on? How do you then know if you’re progressing or not when you don’t even have a plan?
Eventually, planning is everything. Don’t go putting effort into something that you didn’t plan for, you’ll eventually burn out and wouldn’t even move forward cause you’ve got no plan at all.
So, working hard is very good as long as you have a plan alongside to keep you focused, determined and committed. And when all these things are in line, you’re sure on your way to success, trust me.
The reason people tend to see hard work as a very tedious and drudgery process is that they invest those hard work in the wrong things. Trust me, you won’t feel awful when you’re working hard on the right thing. That feeling of satisfaction and fulfilment will always be down with you, no doubt.
Hard work is the sacrifice you pay for the reward you wanna get. And you wouldn’t want to quit or give up when you know that your reward is sure to come.
YES, YOU NEED HARD WORK TO BE SUCCESSFUL
So, in case you’re still been sceptical about this, just know now that for you to become successful in life, you need to work hard.
And you know, there really a lot of reasons why hard work is necessary for your success, some of them are:
- Working hard is a pacesetter for your success. It’s more like the thing that clears the way for you to diligently work through the path of your journey to success.
- By working hard, you tend to build a character that can’t ordinarily be built when you try to boycott your way to success. Characters such as discipline, diligence, patience, determination, commitment and the likes tend to constantly grow in you, whenever you’re working your way hard to success.
- Working hard makes you become passionate about your work. You don’t allow unnecessary distractions to affect your work because you know what you’re aiming at.
- Working hard through to success makes you value what you do and how far you’ve come. You don’t necessarily deliberate on the downsides and failures that you’ve encountered on your way to success. Rather you tend to acknowledge the fact that failing doesn’t mean the end, it’s only the beginning and a way of learning.
- Without hard work, your success would be meaningless and purposeless. Those people that managed to get successful through shortcuts are wishing they went through the process because the process is everything.
HARD WORK DEMANDS SACRIFICES
Here’s the thing. Success is not measured by how much you have or how much you’ve accumulated. Rather success is measured by what you were before and how you’re doing now. Also, it is measured by how many people’s lives you’ve touched and the difference you’ve made in their lives.
So tell me, how do you intend to get your way to success when you’re not willing to work hard on your goals. Listen here, there are really no shortcuts to success, and even if there are, it’s definitely going to be Short-lived.
That’s why hard work is seemingly the major factor that you can employ into getting successful. You just have to work hard to do it, there’s really no two ways of this.
I guess you know by now that nothing good comes easily? Well, since success is a good thing, a very good one at that, you really don’t expect it to come to you on a platter of gold, do you?
That’s the more reason you’ve to sacrifice something in order to get what you want. And hard work seems to be the sacrifice that you put in in order to get success, just like I said before.
Mind you, working hard is not the only “recipe” to success. There are seemingly others that you can add to the “soup” in order to make it more tasty and palatable.
But then hard work is what makes the other recipes come around and stay, even when things seem not to be rosy for them.
THERE’S MORE TO GAIN FROM HARD WORK
Some people might really think that there isn’t much to gain from working hard, but I think they are wrong. There’s really more to gain from working hard than you actually imagined.
Yes, I know in putting so much work and effort into something, the reward might not be so visible, but then that doesn’t mean you’ll have to quit. Only losers quit, and I guess you wouldn’t want to be described as a loser?
Again, I’m saying, hard work is everything. If you doubt me, then take out time and look into the lives of those successful people that we see in our society today. A great number of them didn’t get there by luck. What am I even saying! None of them got there by luck, they all put a reasonable amount of effort into their work, and that’s why they are where they are today.
WHAT HARD WORK IS AND ISN’T
Now when I say “their work”, I don’t necessarily mean the regular work that we humans do on a daily basis. And I think that’s where a lot of us are getting it wrong. We think working hard in our chores, jobs and the like can get us to success. Well, that’s not the case.
The work that I’m referring to here is more purpose-driven and more self-fulfilling. It’s more or less something that seems greater than you, but at the same time, you can manage it, if you’ve got the right skill in place.
You know that thing that you know deep within you that you’re not doing. You keep putting it off for one reason or the other. That’s the work I’m talking about.
Success tends to be attainable when you’re working on something that you’re supposed to be doing. So don’t get your mind twisted by thinking that it’s your regular day-to-day activities. I’m not referring to that.
The reason why you see people saying that they work hard but still not getting meaningful results is that they’re working hard on the wrong stuff. Yes, working hard could go wrong when it’s not done in the right way.
That’s why you’ve to find out what you’re supposed to be doing and start to work hard on it. There’s really no other way around success.
And the more you keep working hard, the more you learn, and when you’re learning, you’re growing. And constant personal growth is one thing that can take you to your place of success.
CONCLUSION
So what am l saying in essence? Well, all I’m saying is that hard work pays. And you don’t have to give up, even if it is not paying off now. Just believe in what you see and blindly focus on what you do, because that’s what will eventually take you to your desired place.
And always remember to have a laid out plan for any form of hard work you tend to put in anything. Planning makes the work feasible and accessible.
