Despite the excessive talks that exist on “not giving up” and “working hard“, a large number of people still give up. They give up on their dreams, goals, and aspirations not minding how much hard work they’ve already put into it.
Others might as well give up before they even begin to put in any form of hard work. How pathetic can this be? This just shows that people give up easily even on themselves and their goals. I guess everything happens for a reason so definitely those people who give up on their dreams do have their reasons too or don’t you think so too?
Let’s face the fact that “working hard is not easy”. It has never been easy and it’ll never be easy. I guess this is why they often say that no good thing comes easily. This is so true, especially for success.
Getting successful is not something you can just do overnight or even over a month or a day. It’s years of deliberate efforts and willpower to get there. And all this amount to one word, which is hard work.
If it was up to us, a great number of us–if not all, would want to become successful without having to put so much hard work and effort into it. We’ll all just want it to come to us on a platter of gold.
But then, if this was to happen, we wouldn’t cherish the end result as much as we should because we didn’t work for it. We might as well misuse this opportunity and think it’ll always come again as it did once.
This is normal human nature. We tend to disvalue and abuse what we didn’t work for and value the results of our hard-earned sweat. That’s why the saying goes, “If the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable“. If you become successful all of a sudden and don’t know how or why it came about, you would misuse such success.
If you happen to ask every successful person that comes your way the one thing that led to their success, you would hear every one of them say, “Hard work“. And this is the fact, hard work is the number one way to become successful in life.
But then, despite this knowledge, most people still give up on hard work and they really don’t want to go through such hurdles in order to become successful.
They tend to lack enough willpower that will make them get on their feet and work their ass out to success. That notwithstanding, they do have their reasons, as I mentioned earlier.
So I had to think this out and I figured out that these people are not giving up because they like giving up, they actually couldn’t take it anymore, and that’s why they gave up.
Below are some of the other underlying reasons why they choose to give up on working their way to success:
THEY DON’T GET RESULTS
Not getting results is one major reason you would wanna give up on hard work. It appears that you’ve worked so hard and yet still don’t get the results you intended. This can so frustrating and agonizing. This can even make someone lose his/her mind. Imagine planning for something and following it through with consistent hard work, then at the end of the day, all your efforts and plans failed. You couldn’t get what you wanted out of it. This would make you to wanna give up and just move on with your life. You wouldn’t want to have anything to do with that particular thing because you know the pain and suffering it has made you go through.
BEING OVERWHELMED
When you’re overwhelmed with so much, you lose control and when you lose control you wouldn’t want to do anything else but give up. Being overwhelmed with so many tasks and activities can literally kill a person. Things become unbearable and when you can’t bear things again, you tend to walk away from them, which also means you giving up. This is the more reason you don’t have to do everything all by yourself. Taking everything in is not good for you. Allow others to help you do some tasks, this way you tend to ease up and create more time for yourself.
NOT COMFORTABLE
Most people give up on working hard because hard work constantly takes them away from their comfort zone. It’s so not comfortable for them, so they quit. Because as it’s, they can’t just sacrifice their comfort zone for anything. But then, being successful means you would have to step out and away from your comfort zone on a constant basis. It’s not a debatable thing, you either do it or just forget about becoming successful. Just like someone once said, “If you want to be comfortable, then you have to inconvenience yourself“. Nothing goes for nothing in this life, the same applies to becoming successful.
DISCIPLINE AND COMMITMENT ISSUES
You know, hard work involves you being able to commit yourself fully to your goals and also having the proper discipline to follow through. People who have issues with these two factors tend to want to give up on their goals. One cannot exist without the other, two of them are both needed if you really want to be successful. When people lack discipline and commitment, they tend to nag about how life is hard on them and all, and when they start nagging, just know that it’s only a matter of time before they quit.
GIVING UP APPEARS TO BE THE ONLY OPTION
When we see giving up as their only option, we tend to take it without giving it a second thought. I begin to wonder who told us that giving up is even an option not to talk of being their only option. And you know, when we begin to believe this, we start to become blind to other better options that are in front of us.
LACK OF FAITH AND BELIEF
Some people don’t even have the slightest bit of faith and believe in themselves. They tend to doubt their every action and behaviour. And they fail to realise that having belief in themselves is the one thing that can keep them going in all forms of circumstances. This lack of faith and belief in themselves will make them easily give up at the sensor of any failure.
They’ve tagged themselves failures even before failure comes. This sort of attitude is not needed for success because it’ll affect everything you stand for. Even if not obvious, just have a little bit of belief in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, how do you want others to do so? It’s not possible, believe me. That’s why you need to have faith in yourself and believe in your goals.
LISTENING TO SIDE TALKS
Listening to the talks of other people can be dangerous, because no matter what you do, good or bad, people will always have a thing or two to say about it. They will always want to look for the errors and find faults in whatever you do. This is why it’s not advisable to listen to what other people say about you because what they say doesn’t matter in any way.
This reason here is why some people may give up on their dreams and goals. They might have heeded the “advice” of people who come to tell them that they are not good enough or that what they are about to do is impossible and that no one has even done it and succeeded.
These words will make them lose hope and just give up. However, they fail to realize that people will always say what they want to say, whether it’s true or not. That’s why it’s important to set up a defence mechanism in your mind to always filter out the trash and cabbage that people will often say to you. You really don’t have to listen to any word they say, just be sure that you know what you want and would go get it, no matter how difficult it may seem to reach it.
FEAR OF LONELINESS
Most people give up on their journey to success because of the fear of being left alone. They dread the fact that they would have to go through the path all by themselves without having anyone to walk it with them. However, you should realize that everyone is on their own, eventually. Even though we need each other, in the end when we want to walk the path to success, we would have to do it alone, all by ourselves. This fear shouldn’t make you give up or quit. Instead, use the fear as a tool to enable you to walk the path till you get to your destination.
