Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has handed over 38 operators of varied Computer Based Test (CBT) centres drawn from the six geopolitical zones to enforcement officers for alleged cybercrime using the Virtual Private Network (VPN).
The operators were accused of extending the VPN to illegal outposts to register some candidates for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and people seeking admission through Direct Entry (DE).
This implies that the fate of all 2020 UTME/DE candidates who knowingly or ignorantly registered at the illegal registration centres is presently unknown as there’s no clear indication if they might be allowed to take a seat for this year’s examinations or other arrangements would be put in situ to capture them.
According to the JAMB Boss, a mean parent doesn’t want the kid to queue even for 10 minutes. they’re going to prefer that they’re going to go and pay this person extra cash and that they will claim to have done it for them not knowing the incalculable damage that they’re doing to their own children.
“Even if we’ve destroyed our own generation, let the incoming generations have the chance of building a far better tomorrow for us and that’s our position.” He advised.
Oloyede warned all owners and operators of JAMB approved CBT centres to strictly adhere to the laid down rules and regulations in registering candidates. He added that JAMB was better equipped to watch and track all illegality surrounding its activities in any a part of the country.
