How does UNIBEN give admission (uniben post utme)

I’ve been approached by jambites several times who asks questions like: how does UNIBEN offer admission; how does uniben give admission; how does UNIBEN calculate aggregate score; can I fail UNIBEN post utme and still gain admission in UNIBEN; what is UNIBEN post utme cut off mark etc. Today I’ll try as much as possible to provide answers to this uniben admission related questions. First of all, let’s discuss how Uniben makes use of your jamb score.

How uniben calculate your jamb score

Uniben, like many other institutions, have a jamb cut off mark which you must meet or exceed before you’ll be able to sit for their post utme. Don’t attempt to register for uniben post utme without meeting the cut off mark.

Uniben jamb cut off mark is 200. So; in order to sit for uniben post utme exam, you need to have a score of 200 and above. This score;  whatever it may be is then divided by 8.

Therefore, the highest possible score which is 400 when divided by 8 gives 50. This means uniben allocated 50% of their final score to jamb.

I find this to be the right decision because it will enable students to put equal efforts for jamb and post utme.

 

How does Uniben calculate post utme score

Uniben post utme exam is scored over 100. Therefore, the highest possible score that can be gotten from uniben post utme exam  is 100. This score is then divided by 2. This means the highest possible score from uniben post utme exam alone is 50.

 

How does UNIBEN calculate aggregate score

The jamb score after divided by 8 is added to the post utme score after divided by 2. This gives your uniben aggregate score.

For example, if osakpolor scores 256 in jamb and 76 as post utme score, what is his aggregate score?

Answer: \frac{256}{8}+\frac{76}{2}=32+38=70.

This means Osakpolor will have a final score of 70.

Now let’s take a look at uniben admission cut off mark

 

What is uniben cut off mark

In order for you to gain admission in uniben, you need to have at least 50 as your final post utme score. Anything lower than that cannot you admission into uniben legally.

So, Osakpolor exceeded uniben cut of mark. Does this mean he’ll be admitted? No.

This is where departmental cut off mark come into play.

Be rest assured, there is no standard departmental cut off mark in uniben like uniben jamb cut off mark and uniben post utme cut off mark.

This score is determined by the scores of the students who sat for that year post utme going for a similar course. So; if a department wants to admit 78 students through their post utme score, the highest 78 students that sat for that course and scored above 50 will be admitted.

Which brings us to the question; what if students that scored higher than 50 are not up to 78?

This is where “I put in for pharmacy but they gave me forestry and wildlife comes into play”.

 

How uniben admit students into a different course

Let’s say osakpolor put in for medicine, and was not up to the highest 78 students that medicine wants to admit. Uniben, which happens to be a school that do show mercy (some find it to be more of punishment) will look for a department that still needs students to complete the required number intended to be admitted.

This department as long as it is somehow related to the other course will give out students who were not admitted but actually did well. Osakpolor will then choose to either accept the admission or defer it (in the name of I must study mericine).

Other students are admitted due to catchment area, slot from dignitaries etc

This is how the legal admission into uniben is carried out. There is no magic behind it. If you need the illegal way, this is not the right platform to get that and it may not end well for you.

 

Summary of how uniben offer admission

1. You cannot get admission into uniben without scoring up to 200. Don’t be deceived
2. You must score 50 above as your final post utme score before you’ll be in contention for admission
3. Your Uniben post utme aggregate score does not have a cut off mark. As long as your final uniben post utme score crosses 50, you are good to go.
4. If you feel you are not competitive enough go for least competitive course (dey nor dey use shame chop poison).
5. Someone with 56 may get admitted while another person with 70 won’t be admitted. That’s life.

I think that should be all. Just read hard enough and you’ll come out successful.
