The 7 common types of relationships known to mankind
A relationship can be seen as a connection between two or more people. It is an association of persons who may be related by blood, tribe, marriage, work, union, education, religion, politics etc.
There are different types of relationships. The basic types of relationships are:
Friendship relationship
This is a type of relationship between two people who care about each other. The people in this type of relationship have a common interest, history, common values and equality.
Work relationship
This is a type of relationship whereby someone who has work experience with working with you is connected to you. They don’t personally know you too well outside of work but can vouch for your hard honest working.
Family relationship
This is the first relationship that a person must establish compulsorily with his or her family. This relationship involves family members and relatives.
Dating relationship
This is a type of relationship in which two people must socially come together for companionship. It is a committed type of relationship in which two persons spend intimate time together and care for each other. It, therefore, means that dating is a serious relationship that can lead to marriage.
Romantic relationship
This is a type of relationship in which two partners get to know each other more and intimately. Here; love, commitment, emotion, passion, intimacy, care and strong affection are involved.
A romantic relationship is reserved for adults. In a romantic relationship, the two partners cannot stay without each other for long. Strong feelings are the foundation of a romantic relationship.
Marriage relationship
This is a type of relationship that exists in a married couple. The people who practice this type of relationship are those that have been legally joined together as husband and wife. This type of relationship can exist for life if sustained.
Platonic relationship
This is a type of relationship that does not involve sexual activity. It is a friendship that sexual desire is absence. It was discovered by a Greek philosopher called Plato. In this relationship, a person is close to somebody but there is no romance or sex.
