What is cut off mark

Cut off mark also referred to as cut off point is a score which must be meant in order to achieve a goal. In this perspective, such goals are been able to participate for uniben post utme, being able to be eligible for admission, and to be admitted.

The aim of cut off mark was brought for the purpose of setting standards and to make examinations competitive.

Due to the high number of students that sit in for jamb and uniben post utme year in year out, I think it was a nice idea.

This has made student to meet certain requirements before been admitted. Some of these requirements include beating the required jamb, post utme, departmental and faculty cut off mark for the year you sat for the exam.

How does cut off mark really work in uniben

In Uniben there is cut off mark for every external exam you write to gain admission. This help give meaning to all the exams.

If you were told that the cut off mark for SSCE like waec or neco is at least a C in 5 subjects, this means in order to gain admission, you’ll have to get a C in at least five subjects.

Similarly, if uniben set their cut off point for jamb as 250, anything less than that and you can’t be admitted. That’s all this whole uniben cut off mark works.

This cut off mark cut across all points in Uniben including post utme, faculties, department and down to courses in the university of benin.

Exams with uniben cut off mark

These are the exams in which uniben has put a cut off point before you can be considered for admission. These exams start right from secondary school and you are mandated to write then.

The first set of exams are SSCE and GCE i.e Waec/Neco etc. There’s a cut off mark the university of Benin requires you to beat before you have chances of gaining admission.

Then  the next is that of the joint admission and matriculatory board (jamb). Uniben has a cut off mark in which you must beat in order to be eligible to sit for uniben post utme Exam.

Lastly, The university of Benin aggregate score. This is the score you must reach or beat in order for you to get admitted. It is different from your uniben post utme/screening score which has no cut off mark.

From Uniben aggregate cut of mark, each faculty, department and course have their cut off mark.

UNIBEN minimum requirement from SSCE and GCE (WAEC/NECO)

You don’t go about going easy on your SSCE or GCE examinations. Else you’ll pay for it during UNIBEN clearance. The university of Benin has a minimum requirement which must be met in order for you to clear after admission. This is what I refer to as UNIBEN cut off mark for SSCE.

You must get atleast five credits in nothing less than 5 subjects including mathematics and english in not more than two sittings. Let me explain this in the best possible way.

A minimum of 5 credits means you’ll have either an A1, B2,B3, C4, C5, or C6.

In nothing less than 5 subjects  means this minimum of 5 credits must be the grade for 5 subjects or more.

Including mathematics and English means that you must get at least a credit in this 2 subjects. This leaves you with 3 more subjects to get at least a credit.

In not more than two sitting is talking about combining results. You are permitted to combine any 2 SSCE or GCE results to meet the above requirement if one doesn’t meet it. Anything more than 2 is not allowed.

However, having said all this, it doesn’t mean you are permitted to just credit any 5 subjects of your choice. You can’t be going for electrical/electronics engineering in Uniben and fail to at least credit physics. Who does that?

UNIBEN jamb cut off mark

When it comes to jamb cut off mark, each school set their various cut off point for admission.

Based on standard the cut of mark for various schools differ. UNIBEN, which happens to be one of the best school in Nigeria has to set standards for itself by putting a good cut of mark for jamb.

The minimum score required of you in jamb to get admitted into uniben is 200.

This is to say that you you have to score at least 200 in jamb. However, scoring far above 200 in jamb will increase the likelihood for you to get admitted due to the stiff competitions.

Having said all this, I’ve put up a minimum jamb score for each course in UNIBEN that will help increase your chances of been admitted.

UNIBEN aggregate cut off mark

This happens to be the most important cut off mark as long as you meet SSCE minimal requirement from UNIBEN.

It happens to be fixed. The university of Benin aggregate cut off mark is 50. This means that anybody who has at least 50 as its aggregate score is eligible for admission. It doesn’t mean that such person must be admitted.

Uniben aggregate score is different from uniben post utme score/screening score. Your post utme score do’nt have a cut off mark unlike your aggregate score.

    Pls I got 233 in jamb and 42 in my uniben post Utme score which give me an aggregate of 50 what’s my chance. Will I get admitted or I will be denied the admission and plss does uniben work on post utme screening or aggregate alone
